Anywho, I'd like to use this space to talk about why I made this game in the first place. I've been a Game Master (mwehehe!) I think since I was ~16. It was a pretty classic scenario where nobody wanted to run the DnD 3.5 game, and so it was foisted on me. I took to it gamely enough, though in later years as both a player and a GM, I was always drawn to the connections you make while taking on a role. You know, that tension you get when the player and GM are immersed in their roles. There's something magical about that moment, and more and more over the years I've found myself chasing that feeling. That is to say, I love character drama!

At the start of 2022, I ran what I would say was my first major RPG with my own setting and an adapted version of Starhold. It was grand! What really drew me into that system was how easy it was to achieve my setting while still having structure and a scary element of big consequences on dice rolls. Still, I found that I wanted an even more streamlined system for my next game, and a yet more streamlined system for the one after that. Cue this year and I wasn't quite able to find the vibe I was looking for in an RPG with a PbtA ruleset. Someone or another suggested I make my own, and heck, I did!

The Twisting of Castle Blaecmere will likely feel familiar if you've played games like Monster of the Week or Starhold, but I hope you enjoy the building creep and queer medieval vibes of the setting. The stories I like have tragedy, intrigue, blood, tearing flesh, and romance. If any of that sounds intriguing, or you just want to read through some fun Playbooks, please check out my game!

Until next time, keep close the Goddess!
